Well ,well ,well, whattayaknow it's a spaghetti spy movie from the king of the spaghetti west jungle - the only and one Sergio Corbucci, now if you have been keeping up with my articles, you will know that I couldn't laud Corbucci more. He was pooh-poohed by the contemporaneous critics for his use of ultra-violence in his pictures, but his cerebral plots were second to none. And it's spy verus spy time with 1967's Death on the Run featuring Michael Rennie.

And oh we just can't get enough of the knockoff Bonds in The Projection Room. And I can't believe it's not 007.  But the handle here is Bind, Charles Bind. And he is known in some certain circles, the ones that keep keys in the punchbowl - as The Man From S.E.X.  Not I kidding. On a note of interest to some - Ingmar Bergman's daughter, Anna, has a cameo in this picture, from 1979 - Licensed to Love And Kill

And now it's time for Talk Talkies, a retrospect of early sound pictures from the merry old days of pre-Hays. and this one's got it all, some vaudeville veterans and the hoofers and puffers too. The future Mrs Powell and Mrs Gable, Miss Carole Lombard stars here in one of her first features Victor Schertzinger directs. From 1930, I give you - Safety In Numbers.

And this was one of the more magical moments a la MGM, and there's certainly a good reason for that - it's a Susan Hayward vehicle. No relation to her '54 Buick Riviera. Easy to be haywire for Hayward though as staggering a thespian she was, didn't get half the respect warranted. It's a little Kleenex Theater Hour to boot. The regal Richard Conte is one of the supporting cast, from 1955  - I'll Cry Tomorrow

Carol Burnett is Calamity Jane. This was a television spectacular and originally aired on November 12, 1963. The musical had a short run but was all the rage in it's brief Broadway spell. Art Lund as Wild Bill Hickok. The comedy legend illuminates as the sassafrassin' sweetheart of the Wild West, well less of the sweet more of the sass and frass. Seldom screened and pleased to present it to you today in The Projection Room.
