Thursday Theurgy For Thee

Welcome movie mavens, the Projection Room is now in the building and the Projectionist is serving you up some cosmic celluloid courses and we begin today with another that is seldom seen on the screen scene -

Now this came from under the carpet and to the attention of Martin Scorsese around the time he was brainstorming Raging Bull and just one look of Joe Pesci is all it took , Marty was sold  - and would see to it from that point forward that Pesci get some vis a vis action with Robert De Niro.  Now the budget here may have been a coupla bucks and a sausage calzone but whattayagonnado. Directed by Ralph De Vito. The Death Collector (1976)

Did you ever wonder what it would be like if Maurice Chevalier and Jayne Mansfield portrayed that infamous tragic twosome Romeo and Juliet. Well, all your Christmases have all come in at the once! Here they are shaking up their spears in : Panic Button (1964). Oh and guess who plays the producer, why it's only Mike Mannix Connors, As always it's just a mere six degrees of FNM seperation in the Projection Room. Directed by George Sherman.

And there's a fine line between fantasy and reality in the world of Faustus Bidgood, possible relation to Johnny Bidgood. This eccentric Canadian film was historic - it's the only feature that features a full Newfoundland cast and crew and it took a decade to wrap this one up and roll its way into the cinemas. Directed by the Joneses - Andy and Michael. The Adventure of Faustus Bidgood (1986)

And to tell you what is what, how about this who's who who-tenanny, southern style. 1961's Claudelle Inglish and there are many an up-and-coming familiar face in this that came hot off the pages of the Erskine Cadwell novel. Okay the Warners had most of these stars by their cojones, but it all gels just right in this where they had Georgia on their minds. Gordon Douglas directs.

Adam at Six A.M. This was released in 1970 and came from Steve McQueen's Solar Production Company that still operated posthumously until the year 1990. And it's Michael Douglas at a time when (I think) he was still keeping it in its pants, but his speedos - well that's a whole other story. Needless to say, this film didn't garner an awful lot of respect when it hit the theaters in its day but what's not to love with Lee Purcell and Joe Don Baker and Dana Elcar rearing their heads here too directed by prolific television director Robert Scheerer.
